Tea Tree essential oil (Melaleuca alternifolia)

There’s no doubt about it: Tea Tree oil is tops when it comes to healing oils. It is an excellent anti fungal and antimicrobial essential oil.

Tea Tree is closely related to Cajuput (Melaleuca leucadendra) and Niaouli (Melaleuca quinquenervia) but is more powerful than both.

The steam-distilled essential oil is widely used in household and personal toiletries and cleansers as well as in natural remedies.

The fragrance is resinous with a warm spicy and aromatic odour.

Tea Tree is a “first aid in a bottle” treatment for abscesses, acne, athletes foot, blisters, boils, cold sores, dandruff, insect bites, lice, ringworm and infected wounds.

In conjunction with its antiviral, antibacterial and anti fungal qualities, these capacities make it one of the most important oils to use in gargles, baths, massage blends, air sprays and diffusers to treat respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis, colds, coughs, influenza, fevers, sinusitis, tonsillitis and whooping cough. Add it to air sprays and diffusers to prevent infectious diseases from spreading.

It may be use undiluted on small areas of the skin, however we recommend that it always be used diluted as it may cause sensitisation in some individuals.

Tea Tree blends well with cinnamon, clary sage, clove, cypress, eucalyptus, geranium, ginger, lavender, lemon, lemongrass, mandarin, marjoram, rosemary and thyme. See our essential oil range here.

BLACK SHEEP TEA TREE ESSENTIAL OIL
Tea Tree Essential Oil has been my go to personal “First Aid in a Bottle” for many years,
and Black Sheep Melaleuca alternifolia is the best Tea Tree Oil I have every used.
Excellent anti-fungal, used on my toenails, after Chemotherapy for a nasty blood cancer.
My Unit is on level 1, and recent upset with a nasty smell from Shower Drain had our
Plumber suggesting that I use “Tea Tree Oil” down the drain – EXCELLENT.
Folk comment upon entering my unit, how lovely and fresh it is in here, and, of course
I use Black Sheep Tea Tree Essential Oil in a seed pod diffuser keeping my little home
    very welcoming.
