Common Horse Conditions
Here are some common conditions for which Hemp may be used for horses:
- Joint Pain and Inflammation: Horses can develop arthritis or joint pain. Hemp is thought to help reduce inflammation and provide pain relief, which can improve mobility and overall comfort.
- Muscle Recovery: For horses in training or competition, muscle recovery is important and Hemp’s anti-inflammatory properties may assist in faster recovery after strenuous activity or injury.
- Anxiety and Stress: Hemp is well-known for its calming effects, which can help reduce anxiety and stress in horses, whether in high-pressure environments like competitions or during transportation.
- Queensland Itch: Hemp’s anti-inflammatory properties, derived from its Omega-3 and GLA (Gamma-Linolenic Acid) content, can help soothe the skin irritation and reduce inflammation caused by Queensland Itch.
- Healthy Coat, Skin, and Hooves: The high Omega-3 content in hemp seeds contributes to a shiny coat, healthy skin, and strong hooves. These fatty acids support overall skin health and can help with conditions like dry skin or brittle hooves.
- Laminitis: Some horse owners turn to Hemp as a supplementary treatment to help manage pain and inflammation associated with laminitis.
- Seizures and Neurological Conditions: Although less common, horses can suffer from seizures or neurological issues. Hemp has been studied in other animals for its anticonvulsant properties, and some horse owners use it to help manage these conditions.
- Immune Support: Hemp is sometimes used to help boost the immune system, especially in horses recovering from illness or dealing with chronic health conditions.
