100% Natural Comfrey Cream

Our Comfrey Cream is a 100% natural remedy crafted with love and care.

Made from organic comfrey leaves and roots, it’s designed to support bruises, fractures, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, sprains, and wounds, offering natural relief for your skin and muscles.

Comfrey Leaf & Root – A Traditional Powerhouse

Comfrey has been respected for over 2,000 years, especially for how it’s been used in traditional herbal practices. At Black Sheep Farm Oils, we blend both comfrey leaf and root into our handmade Hemp Cream with Comfrey & Arnica – because we value the whole plant, not just one part.

Our recipe uses organic comfrey slowly infused into olive oil, then combined with local beeswax and cold-pressed hemp.

While modern research has started to explore comfrey creams for things like back stiffness, joint mobility and general body support, we keep things simple: a time-tested plant, used in a carefully made balm that speaks for itself.

🌿 Our Comfrey Cream Ingredients

We handmake the comfrey oil (which you can buy too!) into a cream / balm using the following ingredients:

  • Organic Comfrey Leaves & Roots infused in cold-pressed almond oil.
  • Beeswax for a protective, moisture-locking barrier.
  • Shea Butter for soft, hydrated skin.
  • Lavender Essential Oil for a calming, soothing touch.

Uses of Comfrey Cream

Gosh it can be used for so many things… Very Well Health sum it up best here:

Comfrey has been used medicinally for at least 2,000 years for various conditions, including bone fractures, ulcers, and gout.

Researchers have investigated the effects of comfrey cream on several health conditions. However, further, well-designed studies are needed. Here’s a look at research on comfrey cream for back pain, osteoarthritis, and ankle sprains.

Side Effects of Comfrey?

Comfrey is a powerful herb – and like many traditional plants, it needs to be used with care.

Not for internal use: Comfrey should never be taken by mouth. It contains natural compounds (called pyrrolizidine alkaloids or PAs) that can be harmful to the liver if swallowed. That’s why internal comfrey products are no longer sold in Australia and many other countries.

Topical use only: Our comfrey-infused balms and oils are for use on unbroken skin. When used this way – and in moderation – comfrey can be a gentle part of your daily routine.

However, we don’t recommend applying large amounts, using it on broken or damaged skin, or using it continuously for more than 6 weeks without a break.

Is Comfrey Legal in Australia?

Yes, comfrey is legal in Australia, but there are rules around how it can be used. Here’s what you need to know:

  1. Comfrey For External Use:
You can legally use comfrey in creams, balms, and ointments to treat bruises, sprains, and inflammation.
  2. Comfrey For Internal Use:
Taking comfrey by mouth, like in teas or supplements, is not allowed because it contains natural compounds (pyrrolizidine alkaloids) that can harm your liver if consumed.
  3. Growing Comfrey at Home:
It’s fine & legal to grow comfrey in your garden for personal use.

We love Comfrey as a herb, as much as we love Hemp even!
