French Lavender Oil

A brief history from production manager Lane:

Lavender enjoys the status of being the most popular and versatile of essential oils, and for good reason.

“Lavandula” comes from the latin “lavare” meaning “to wash” or “to bathe” and has been widely used in toiletries and personal care products for centuries.

Additionally lavender’s antiseptic properties are well known where it is used in the swabbing of wounds, treatment of sores, ulcers, burns, scalds and sunburn. Combined with lavender’s antiviral and antibiotic properties it makes an ideal oil to use as an inhalation and chest rub for bronchitis, coughs, colds, excess mucus and chest infections.

Lavender oil can be used for all skin types, helping to balance both oily and dry skins and is utilised in many skin care preparations.

Lavender is beneficial for conditions involving skin inflammation such as acne, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, boils and wounds. It can be used as an insect repellant and may also be used to treat insect bites – preventing the itching and scratching.

Lavender is regarded as the first choice in the treatment of insomnia, especially when the insomnia is the result of stress and anxiety.

Lavender has a harmonising effect on the nervous system, exerting either a sedative or stimulating action depending on one’s needs. It can create calm and order out of mental chaos, and help balance our body and mind.

Putting a few drops in a warm bath or oil burner / diffuser is one of the easiest ways to use Lavender oil.

Lavender has a multitude of uses and qualities, making it a truely indispensable oil.

Every home should have a bottle of lavender oil, if no other!

At Black Sheep Farm Oils we strive to obtain the finest Lavender essential oil available.

Questions of our Essential Oils

Can I ingest / eat the essential oils?

Regarding our essential oils, they are all top quality and we can provide a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) on request (they are tested every batch, so the CoAs change regularly).

However no essential oils are considered food-grade by law in Australia, though these are as good quality as you can get.

Technically in Australia you’re not supposed to use any essential oils internally, as they are classed a poison by the TGA.

What you do with a product once it’s in your hands is up to you.

What is the difference between essential & fragrance oils?

Essential oils are derived from natural plant material through distillation or cold pressing, and are highly concentrated with the natural aromatic compounds of the plant.

They are known for their therapeutic properties and are commonly used in aromatherapy and other wellness applications.

Fragrance oils, on the other hand, are synthetic scents that mimic natural materials, and are used primarily for their scent in products like perfumes, candles, and other scented items.

While essential oils offer physical and emotional benefits, fragrance oils are solely for scent.

If you’re looking for natural, therapeutic benefits, choose essential oils.

If you simply want a pleasant aroma that is cheaper, fragrance oils are a good option, though we are discontinuing these…

Can I travel with / take the hemp products overseas?

That’s hard for us to say if it’s ok to use overseas, as we are not lawyers, though some people do travel with their hemp products, and we do send them overseas to NZ, USA, UK too.

It would be up to you if you did take it with you, and check if the country (or any you transit through) has any issues with hemp products.
